Winner
International design competition
In 2007 a competition chaired by Peter Murray, the chairman of London Architecture
Biennale, called for Artists/ Designers/ Architects to design a relay baton
for Cycle to Cannes.
Baharash Bagherian was selected as the winner and awarded by Sunand Prasad [RIBA president 2007-2009] at the award ceremony.
The Cycle to Cannes charity challenge is an annual 6-day 1500km cycling endurance event suitable for fit commuters as well cyclosportive riders. It is probably the closest an amateur cyclist will get to feeling like a "pro" having full support, rolling road closures and covering up to 300km a day. The baton is carried continuously by the team leaders of the relay the entire distance from London to Cannes and presented to the mayor of London on the C2C podium at the official arrival ceremony.
